Over the years, I’ve had family, friends, co-workers and acquaintances that have served in the military in various branches and various duties. Several of them were assigned to details with some of the presidents, namely Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. Others had short detail assignments when presidents traveled overseas, as they were stationed in the countries where the presidents visited and they all tell pretty much the same story about the relationship between the presidents, First Ladies and family with the military personnel assigned to them.
For example, those had detail assignments involving the Clintons all reported that both Bill and Hillary were rude, discourteous and belligerent.
He said that Hillary, especially would yell orders at them, curse at them and worse. Neither Clinton took time to know their military details by name or anything about them or their families.
When George W. Bush was president, it was totally different. He and Laura Bush took the time to know their military detail by name along with the names of their families and children. They treated them as equals and regularly thanked them for their service and the little things they did to help the Bushes. One person was assigned to Bush at two different times in two different countries and both George and Laura not only remembered his name, but asked about some of the family by name as well.
Then Barack Obama and Michelle’s mom squatted in the White House and the treatment of the military details was pretty much the same as the way it was under Clinton. One Marine I knew said he would have gladly taken a bullet for George or Laura Bush, but not for Bill or Hillary Clinton and not for Barack or Michelle Obama.
I’m sure that things have changed again with Donald and Melania Trump, but since I have no contacts there, I cannot say for certain.
But what about the relationship between military personnel and members of Congress?
For the past 40 years, friends, family and former co-workers who were in the military pretty much all had the same opinion about members of Congress and it pretty much matched the way it was under the different presidents, despising Democrats because Democrats despised them and respecting Republicans because Republicans respect them.
Before Obama adulterated the military and turned into a haven for LGBT individuals and military leaders who said they would fire on the American people if ordered to do so, many military personnel and veterans held respect for most Republicans and very few Democrats.
I knew some veterans who dropped their union membership when they learned that their union was donating their dues to the campaigns of Obama, Clinton and other American hating Democrats.
So, what about New York’s socialist darling, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez?
Recently, AOC was meeting with community leaders in the Bronx, her home district. During that meeting, one of the board members, who happened to be of Middle Eastern decent, mentioned the conflict in Yemen in a way that was disparaging to the United States.
Then, in her typical anti-American socialist way, AOC began to rant against America, against the American government and so on. As she droned on, two veterans, one sitting between AOC and a staffer, got up and walked out of the meeting.
One of the veterans, Silvio Mazzella, a Vietnam War vet who serves as treasurer of Community Board 11, stated:
“She knocks the country, she knocks the president. And that’s not what America is about.”
The other veteran who walked out on AOC was Anthony Vitaliano, an Army veteran and a 38-year veteran of the New York Police Department. He stated afterwards:
“I just couldn’t hear her BS anymore. I just got up, got my umbrella in my hand and walked right out.”
“Talking about America, that really turned me off completely.”
Another person attending the meeting, who didn’t want to be identified, stated that he was revolted by AOC’s comments.
A spokesperson for AOC tried to blow the whole thing off with a lie, saying that only one person left and that was to pick up his/her children.
When Vitaliano heard the official statement, he responded, saying:
“That’s bulls–t. Everybody that was there knows I walked out.”
With all of the problems our country is facing at the moment, we don’t need American hating socialists in Congress like AOC and some of her other freshman colleagues. If there is any hope for America, AOC, Tlaib and Omar need to be one-and-done members of Congress. The best thing for America is for AOC to return to being waitress after the 2020 elections.
