John Mordecai Scott has been sentenced to 100 years to life in prison after being convicted of multiple crimes, including sexually abusing and molesting eight female piano students.

The students were aged seven to 15 years at the time of the assaults. The incidents occurred at two music schools and at his private residence, and date back as far as 1996.

According to local news, “Scott was convicted of 13 felony counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor, five felony counts of a lewd act upon a child age 14 or 15, one felony count of use of an underage person for obscene matter, one felony count of possession of child pornography, one felony count of exhibition of lewd material to a minor, one felony count of distributing pornography to a minor with the intent to engage in sexual conduct, and one misdemeanor count of annoying or molesting a child under 18.”

Authorities obtained a search warrant for Scott’s address in 2014, after a 10-year-old girl, who was one of his students, complained that Scott took inappropriate pictures of her. Local news further reports that “he showed her porn and filmed her.”

Orange County’s Child Exploitation Task Force took over the investigation. Pornographic photos of multiple students were found, as well as “a large amount of child pornography and erotica” in general.
