Following the damages to Nord Stream 1 and 2, a video of President Biden saying he would put an “end” to the gas pipeline has resurfaced.
Fox News host Tucker Carlson suggested that it is possible that Biden is to blame for the damage sustained by the Russian-owned pipelines. During the time of major leaks into the Baltic Sea, neither of the pipelines was in operation.
Twitter users were quick to share a video of Biden from February 7, 2022, in which he was discussing the Nord Stream 2 during an appearance with ABC news. Now, they are drawing the connections between the President’s previous comments and the damage sustained by the pipeline.
James Melville, a commentator, said that now that the Nord Stream is damaged, Germany would most likely need to buy natural gas from the US at a much higher price.
Author Michael Shellenberger also shared the video saying that the comments could be relevant.
While talking to reporters on February 7th, Biden had said that if Russia invaded then Nord Stream 2 would seize to exist. He had said at the time that “We will bring an end to it.”
A journalist had then asked how that would be possible as the control of the project was something Germany had, but Biden reassured them that they would be able to stop Nord Stream 2.
On Tuesday, two leaks along the two Nord Stream pipelines were announced by both Denmark and Sweden.

Biden: "If Russia invades…then there will be no longer a Nord Stream 2."
Reporter: "But how will you do that, it's in germany's control?"
Biden: "I promise you, we will be able to do that." pic.twitter.com/idlxQYuAqU
