(PartiallyPolitics.com) Americans are divided on whether there has been too much focus on the Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection as the country has reached the second anniversary of the Capitol attack.
A Politico-Morning Consult poll found that around 47 percent of respondents either strongly or somewhat believed that the country had placed too much focus on the attack, while 45 percent either strongly or somewhat disagreed with that assessment.
Around one-third of respondents believe strongly that there has been too much focus, while only 3 in 10 strongly disagree.
Pollsters also noted that 40 percent strongly or somewhat agree that the focus placed on the attack has not been enough, while 49 percent strongly or somewhat disagree.
On Friday, President Biden will hold a ceremony in the East Room of the White House. The event will mark the second anniversary of the Capitol riot. Biden is also going to be making remarks, which is something he had done following the first anniversary of the attack.
The House Select Committee tasked with investigating the Jan. 6 attack, expired on Tuesday with the end of the 117th Congress. Their final report on the attack had been released last month, along with a number of recommendations made by the committee, as well as four criminal referrals against former President Trump sent to the Justice Department.
As part of their investigations, the committee held many high-profile public hearings, and witness testimonies to reach its final conclusions.
