(PartiallyPolitics.com) During the North American Leaders Summit on Monday, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador chastised President Biden for not assisting Latin American countries more.
Lopez Obrador took advantage of the press conference to call out President Biden for not doing more to solve the immigration crisis which has greatly affected the situation along the U.S.- Mexican border. However, Biden said that this is a shared problem, and it is not possible for only one country to wall itself off from it.
Still, the Mexican President maintained that life in Latin America and the Caribbean could be greatly improved, but that improvement was in Biden’s hands.
Despite his accusations about forgetfulness, Lopez Obrador changed his tune slightly on Tuesday when he praised Biden for not building any more walls. This was a clear reference to the policies followed by President Donald Trump. He then continued by encouraging Biden to tell Congress to find ways for undocumented Mexican workers to be able to find jobs in the United States.
Regarding Fentanyl, which is a synthetic opioid that has been taking over the drug crisis in the U.S.A. the Mexican president said that they are trying to fight these drugs which are not just causing problems in the United States, but also within his own country.
Outside of Fentanyl and immigration, key issues regarding climate change and pandemic-related health threats were also central to the discussion. Biden said that President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and himself had a common vision that they were working towards.
