(PartiallyPolitics.com) On Monday, former President Donald Trump did not openly support any of the Republican National Committee (RNC) chair candidates. During an episode of The Water Cooler, host David Brody asked Trump whether he supported incumbent RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel or challenger Harmeet Dhillon. Trump has a personal connection to Dhillon whose California-based law firm represents Trump.
In response, Trump said that he liked and got along with both. He then added that he has not taken a specific stance in this battle. He further added that Dhillon had done a “great job” as his legal representative. He then added that McDaniel had also performed really well in her position.
Trump added that the one important thing for the RNC was to have an “honest election.” He added that currently there have been many “dishonest, corrupt elections” and that what he is hoping to see is an honest election where all the voters are identified and verified. He added that he was hoping to not see any “fake ballots” in future elections.
Trump has frequently claimed that the U.S. elections have been fraudulent but has so far been unable to provide any evidence to substantiate these claims.
McDaniel was first elected in her position in 2017. Since then, she has never faced serious opposition. Now she is seeking reelection following an underwhelming performance in the 2022 midterm elections.
In the midterm elections the GOP had been hoping for a “red wave” but instead they barely managed to flip the House with a narrow majority and completely failed at flipping the Senate.
