(PartiallyPolitics.com) A new Rasmussen Reports poll shows President Joe Biden leading a “hypothetical” 2024 rematch of the 2020 race against former President Donald Trump by a small margin.
The poll was released on Wednesday and showed Biden pulling ahead with 45 percent while Trump had 42 percent of respondents’ support. Around 11 percent of those surveyed said that they would prefer to see different candidates in the 2024 election, while 2 percent noted that they were not sure about who they would support.
The survey took place between Feb. 8-9, and 12 by Pulse Opinion Research LLC and there were around 900 likely U.S. voters who responded. The current margin of error is 3 percentage points.
In a hypothetical race between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump currently holds the lead with 45 percent, while Harris has 42 percent. Eleven percent said that they would prefer to see a different candidate.
A Rasmussen poll in January 2022 had put Trump in the lead with 46 percent of respondents opting for Trump and 41 percent opting for Biden.
Along political party lines, 82 percent of Democrats support Biden while only 74 percent of Republicans support Trump.
Of those surveyed 52 percent were female and 48 percent were male. Forty-seven percent of those surveyed were between the ages of 40-64, 31 percent were 18-39, and 22 percent were over 65.
