(PartiallyPolitics.com) On Monday the People’s Republic of China slammed the United States for its reaction to the balloon found in their airspace.
Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Wang Wenbin told reporters that since the U.S. brought down the unmanned Chinese balloon earlier this month, they have proceeded to shoot down a number of aircraft and objects found in the U.S. airspace.
Wang added that they have repeatedly made it clear that the “Chinese civilian unmanned airship” which was found in U.S. airspace ended up there unintentionally and it was an “isolated event caused by force majeure.” He also noted that he did not have any information about the ‘unidentified objects’ and therefore he could not answer questions about whether or not they belonged to China.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has criticized the U.S. government for its handling of the situation and Wang even went as far as to call the U.S. reaction of bringing the balloon down with advanced missiles a “trigger-happy overreaction.”
Wang also pushed the issue further asking what the cost of the U.S.’s actions on taxpayers and the nation would be. However, he avoided answering any questions relating to China’s connection to the unidentified objects, noting that China does not have anything to do with that and when there is no evidence such “irresponsible comments” are a smear campaign against China which he opposes.
The debris from the balloon that was shot down off the coast of South Carolina has been brought to the FBI Laboratory in Quantico, Virginia for investigation.
