(PartiallyPolitics.com) Former President Trump has slammed the New York Post for their recent extensive profile of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) who is widely expected to join the 2024 presidential race.
As part of the profile, many of DeSantis’ main talking points are featured, along with photographs of the governor’s childhood. Following the profile, the former president released an attack on the newspaper on Sunday on his social media platform Truth Social.
As he notes “writer Salena Zito’s Fake News ‘puff piece’about the Florida governor does not include any mentions of him wanting to cut Social Security and Medicare. He further adds that DeSantis “loves losers like Jeb Bush, Paul Ryan, and Karl Rove,” and is behind Trump in all of the polls. Trump proceeds to call DeSantis a RINO, that is a Republican in Name Only, who is looking to “hide his past.” He proceeded with his attack on the New York Post saying that he no longer reads the publication as it has become “Fake News, just like Fox & WSJ!”
In recent months, the Post along with a number of other right-of-center media outlets have shifted their attention away from Trump and towards DeSantis. DeSantis is widely expected to join the 2024 presidential race within the next few months. Support for DeSantis increased tremendously after his impressive victory during the 2022 midterm election. Following the election results the Post put out a story with the headline calling Florida governor “DEFUTURE.”
