(PartiallyPolitics.com) Former President Donald Trump has once again slammed Florida governor Ron DeSantis for the relatively small turnout he had at his police union event in New York City on Monday.
On Monday, DeSantis started his three-state tour in which he touted the importance of law and order for the reduction of crime. His first event took place in the Privé catering hall in Staten Island and it included his meeting with a number of law enforcement officials and police officers.
DeSantis has not yet announced whether or not he would be placing a bid for the White House in 2024. Still, he is widely believed to be considering a run and many believe he is the strongest challenger that Trump will have to race against in a hypothetical matchup.
Following his event in New York, DeSantis proceeded to meet with sheriffs, police officers, and other law enforcement and union officials in the next two stops in his tour at Fort Washington, a Philadelphia suburb, and in Elmhurst, Illinois.
The event in Staten Island started at 7:30 a.m. and was hosted by the New York State Fraternal Order of Police. While this event was not a public campaign rally, Trump nonetheless mocked DeSantis for the small crowd that attended the event. As he posted on Truth Social, there was a lot of funding spent on this event and yet only 139 people attended.
Trump also spoke to a crowd of his supporters at the Trump 45 Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, stating that DeSantis only had 139 people in Staten Island, whereas they had “139 times 30” that amount.
