(PartiallyPolitics.com) – Tucker Carlson has recently faced a lot of criticism from both Republicans and Democrats over his coverage of the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol. However, despite these criticisms, Carlson’s show on Fox News has achieved the highest ratings it has had since August 2022.

Throughout his commentary, Carlson has supported that those who stormed the Capitol were “sightseers” and not rioters.

Previously, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy gave Carlson exclusive access to over 41,000 hours of security footage from the day of the attack. On Monday night, during an episode of Tucker Carlson Tonight on Fox News, Carlson showed a number of clips that he states clearly depict that there was not an “insurrection or a riot in progress.” He further added that the Democrats and media were hoping to have the footage suppressed because they went against the idea that a riot had taken place.

Carlson as a host has a lot of influence with the Republican party. In fact, it had previously been reported that he may have even played a role in one of Former president Donald Trump’s decisions while he was still in office.

In 2021, Republican Senator Ted Cruz had spoken out against January 6, 2021, attacks, but when Carlson invited him to appear on his show, Cruz backtracked.

Despite this, GOP lawmakers have blasted Carlson for their depiction of the Capitol attack, especially following the unveiled security clips. GOP leaders, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis, Utah Senator Mitt Romney, and South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham have all criticized Carlson’s perception and portrayal of Jan. 6, 2011.
