(PartiallyPolitics.com) – Fox News host Tucker Carlson made the assertion following former President Donald Trump’s indictment on Thursday, that this indictment by a Manhattan grand jury was a bigger assault on American democracy than the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol by Trump’s supporters was.
During a segment of his show on Fox, Carlson claimed that anyone who believes in the American system would need to right now rise up against this case as it is “too great an assault on our system.” He continued by stating that this assault was bigger than the assault on Jan. 6, 2021.
Carlson’s comments in favor of Trump are particularly notable right now because of how much criticism Trump has recently expressed against Fox over their coverage of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) and some private messages and comments made by Fox top executives and hosts, including Carlson, following the 2020 presidential election which have been made public as part of a defamation lawsuit brought against Fox by Dominion Voting Systems.
In one of the text messages that are part of the $1.6 billion lawsuit, Carlson writes “We are very very close to being able to ignore Trump most nights. I truly can’t wait,” he then proceeded to talk about how he hates Trump “passionately” in a different message. However, Fox has maintained that the messages by Dominion have been “cherry picked,” while Carlson expressed outrage about his private communications having been made public as part of the suit.
