(PartiallyPolitics.com) – Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds (R) has sent an invitation to all 2024 Republican candidates to attend the Iowa State Fair next month, joining her for the “Fair Side Chats.” Iowa is the first state in the Republican presidential nominating calendar and where the caucuses start.
Reynolds’ team has argued that these one-on-one interviews are going to extend beyond the issues of the presidential campaign and will allow the public to get a better idea of who each candidate actually is. The governor first revealed her plans to Fox News Digital on Monday morning during an appearance on “Fox and Friends.”
The Iowa State Fair is held in August every year in Des Moines. For decades, presidential candidates from both parties would attend the fair ahead of the start of the primary races.
The interview with Reynolds is going to be taking place at the fairgrounds and will be taking place during the Iowa State Fair which is scheduled for August 10 to August 20. The governor’s team pointed out that the interviews would be available both to the media and to those attending the fair.
Reynolds in a statement released to Fox News, noted her excitement about hosting the Presidential candidates during the fair and argued that this would be a unique opportunity for candidates to share their message with those at the fair only six months before the Iowa Caucus is set to take place.
All Republican candidates are invited, including former President Donald Trump who has criticized Reynolds for not taking a stance on the GOP presidential race. Trump is currently leading the GOP primary race by double digits.
