(PartiallyPolitics.com) – During an interview promoting his new book, ABC News host George Stephanopoulos claimed the “deep state” is “full of patriots.”

Detailing interviews he did for his recently released book “The Situation Room: The Inside Story of Presidents in Crisis,” Stephanopoulos told “The View” that what people called the “deep state” was “packed with patriots.”

The ABC News host described how he had interviewed “about 100 duty officers from the White House,” who had come from the DIA, military, Defense Department, and CIA, discovering that “the [so-called] deep state is packed with patriots.”

During his campaigning, former President Donald Trump has frequently declared he would end the deep state, a term which has come to describe unelected bureaucrats believed to be working against his agenda.

Stephanopoulos explained that those who worked every day on the frontlines of the country’s “most intense crises” did it to serve the country and the presidency, “not the president.” Therefore, he insisted, they didn’t “care about political parties.”

When asked to weigh in on recent polling in the 2024 Presidential race, Stephanopoulos admitted that “in the states that matter,” Trump was pulling ahead of President Joe Biden because the President wasn’t doing as well with young and Black voters.

Stephanopoulos also used the interview to reiterate his views that there was plenty at stake in the 2024 election, highlighting that “never” in U.S. history had there been a Presidential candidate that was “impeached, then indicted” for an attempt to “overturn an election.”

The ABC host also claimed Trump’s refusal to commit to accepting whatever the outcome would be for the upcoming election is “un-American” and possibly “unconstitutional,” adding that it was up to the media to put it into context.
