(PartiallyPolitics.com) – The Biden administration’s policies are to blame for the “highest… possible terrorist threat,” according to House Intelligence Committee Chair Mike Turner (R-Ohio).
After reports surfaced about a foiled potential terrorist plot involving illegal migrants that had crossed the southern border, Rep. Mike Turner (R-Ohio), chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, revealed he was “pointing the finger directly at the [Biden] administration’s policies.”
Turner’s comments follow statements by FBI Director Christopher Wray that revealed the U.S. is experiencing “the highest level of a possible terrorist threat.”
Speaking on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” on Sunday, Turner blamed the Biden administration’s border policies for the “threats to Americans.”
Turner told host Margaret Brennan that the threat to America from lax border policies was no longer speculation as “actual administration officials” begin “stepping forward.”
He added that members of the House Intelligence Committee had “concurred on the intelligence” that because of policies allowing migrants to “cross the border unvetted,” there were terrorists “actively working inside the United States.”
The Ohio Republican noted that the problem stemmed from a failure to vet migrants and border policies permitting migrants to enter the country illegally with only a notice to appear at a later date.
He noted that while there wasn’t “evidence” that the illegal migrants in the U.S. were “actively engaged in terrorist plotting,” their links to terrorist groups “is a threat,” and is what Wray was referencing and had identified.
Turner also revealed that the Committee was pursuing accountability and requesting the Biden administration “declassify the information” relating to potential terrorist threats to allow “public discourse.”
