(PartiallyPolitics.com) – A new CBS poll has shown that President Joe Biden might have some trouble in Arizona, a state that he had previously won in 2020 against former President Donald Trump.

According to the new poll Biden is trailing behind Trump by 5 percentage points in the state, with only 47 percent of respondents supporting him, while 52 percent supported the former President. The poll came weeks after Arizona was put in the national spotlight after the state’s Supreme Court had decided that performing an abortion should be considered a felony, upholding an 1864 law.

The Arizona poll also found that 51 percent of voters in the state considered abortion to be one of the major deciding factors in the upcoming presidential election, while 65 percent claimed that they would support establishing a constitutional right to abortion within the state.

Last month, following the decision of the state’s Supreme Court, the Biden campaign was quick to launch an ad campaign in which they presented the risks that Trump posed on abortion access for millions of women. Trump argued however that abortion laws should be determined by the states, still, he did claim that he considered the abortion ruling in Arizona to have gone too far.

In Arizona, 44 percent of voters argued that Trump was going to allow abortion rules to be determined by the state, while 33 percent argued that he would try to make abortion illegal across the country. Finally, 23 percent stated that they were either unsure or did not believe that Trump would do anything.
