(PartiallyPolitics.com) – Biden’s campaign slammed former President Donald Trump for “rooting for a government shutdown” arguing that he did not care about what the effects on American families would be. On Wednesday, Trump pushed for Republican lawmakers to use a government shutdown in order to block the Department of Justice (DOJ) from having access to funds.
The Biden-Harris campaign’s senior adviser TJ Ducklo in a statement noted that Trump was continuing his work as the “MAGA House Republican’s puppetmaster” and was now pushing for them to use the funding deadline in order to shut the government down. As he pointed out this would have devastating results in both the country’s security and on American families.
Trump is currently leading the 2024 Republican primary race and recently noted regarding the funding deadline that this was the last opportunity they would have to defund his prosecution. The Department of Justice’s special counsel Jack Smith led to investigations against Trump, both of which resulted in indictments over the summer. Trump has been indicted in one case relating to his alleged mishandling of classified documents after leaving the White House, and a second case relating to his attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.
In a statement, Ducklo pointed out that every American could recall how their lives were damaged because of Trump’s extremism during his administration. He argued that he now continued to play political games utilizing the weaknesses of his party and doing everything possible in order to get back in power.
