(PartiallyPolitics.com) – On Tuesday, President Joe Biden asked all Americans to reject any form of political violence. These remarks came after Saturday’s assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.
While talking at the 115th NAACP National Convention in Las Vegas, Biden expressed gratitude that Trump had not been gravely injured and stated that he continued to pray for him as well as his family. He continued by arguing that all forms of political violence needed to be condemned.
As he stated, people who are stating that they stand against violence need to be standing against all violence, including the violence against Black veterans, George Floyd, election workers, and the white supremacists who had opened fire in Buffalo, New York. He continued by specifically condemning political violence, and all types of shootings, including the ones in Las Vegas in 2017, Sandy Hook, and the Uvalde school shooting.
Biden argued that people who are outspoken about one shooting could not remain quiet when it comes to others.
On Saturday, a shooter opened fire during one of Trump’s rallies injuring him, while also killing one other attendee. While Trump suffered a non-life-threatening injury, two other attendees had been injured seriously.
On Tuesday, during his remarks, Biden pushed for more gun reforms, noting that the gun that had been used during the shooting was an AR-style gun. He added that people who wanted to stand against violence within the country needed to join him so that they could remove these firearms from the streets of America.
