(PartiallyPolitics.com) – Former President Donald Trump slammed President Biden’s speech at the 2023 United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Tuesday, claiming that it was a “surrender” speech that no one had attended.
In his post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump argued that no one had any respect for the U.S. anymore and that no one had shown up for Biden’s remarks. These comments were a reference to Biden’s speech in which he appealed to the heads of state and government from approximately 145 to unite and support Ukraine against the Russian invasion.
In his speech, Biden argued that Russia thought that they would be allowed to continue their invasion of Ukraine without having to face consequences. However, as he argued, if the U.N. Charter’s core principles are abandoned just so an aggressive state could be appeased, then no other member state would feel that they were protected.
He proceeded to reaffirm that the United States would continue to support the Ukrainian people and their fight to maintain their territory, sovereignty, and freedom. He proceeded to encourage all of the country’s international allies to take similar action.
The Biden administration is currently working with Congress on providing an additional $24 billion in funding to Ukraine. However, conservative House members have been opposing the move.
Trump has previously alleged that if he wins the 2024 presidential election, he will be able to end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours. He has also noted that if re-elected he would stop all the aid being sent to Ukraine.
