(PartiallyPolitics.com) – Bronny James, the Los Angeles Lakers second-round pick, missed games after his Summer League debut.

After James, son of NBA superstar Lebron James, struggled during his Summer League debut, he didn’t suit up for the team’s next game because of his knee swelling.

According to a post on X, Mike Trudell revealed James is dealing with “trace swelling” in his left knee and wouldn’t play in the back-to-back against the Golden State Warriors out of precaution.

However, James is expected back on the court against Miami Heat for the Classic California final.

James, who the Lakers selected with the No.55 pick in this year’s NBA Draft, featured in his first professional game on Saturday night. Yet, his performance wasn’t as expected in the team’s 108-94 loss to the Sacramento Kings.

The 19-year-old shot two of nine, resulting In four points, with two rebounds and two assists during his 22 minutes on the court. He also missed both free throws and all of his three-point shots.

Despite collecting his first steal of the Summer League, the second-draft pick posted a minus-15 while on the court.

In his introductory press conference, James explained that he didn’t have the “opportunity” to showcase what he was capable of at USC, where he averaged five points a game after suffering cardiac arrest and undergoing surgery for a congenital heart defect.

It wasn’t much better for James’ teammate, Dalton Knecht, a first-round pick for the Lakers from Tennessee. Knecht shot three of twelve and went five of nine from the charity stripe, achieving 12 points during his 26 minutes.

Twenty-four-year-old forward Blake Hinson achieved 17 points. He drained five of his seven 3-pointers and hit both free throws.
