(PartiallyPolitics.com) – Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg slammed Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), who was announced during the Republican National Convention as former President Donald Trump’s running mate choice, over his past remarks regarding “childless” members of the Democratic Party.
On Tuesday, during an interview on CNN’s “The Source,” Buttigieg pointed out that what was sad about Vance’s comments is that he had made them after Buttigieg had gone through a tough setback during his adoption journey. Buttigieg pointed out that this is not something that Vance could have known, however, he argued that this was precisely the reason why he should not have been talking about other people’s children.
Vance had previously claimed that many of the Democratic Party’s prominent figures, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Vice President Kamala Harris, and Buttigieg who now has twins, who controlled the party did not have children. Vance had proceeded to question how it made sense for the country to be in the hands of people who did not have a “direct stake in it.
Harris, who is married to First Gentleman Doug Emhoff, has two stepchildren, Cole and Ella Emhoff.
On Tuesday, Buttigieg pointed out that this is not about his kids or the family of the vice president. Instead, he pointed out that it is about American families that depend on what the future of the country will look like. He added that Harris is going to be focusing on more freedom, and prosperity for American families.
Following President Biden’s announcement that he would not be seeking reelection, Harris has become the presumptive Democratic nominee and has received a lot of big endorsements.
