(PartiallyPolitics.com) – On Monday, former President Donald Trump stated that during the weekend he had a “great meeting” with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R). During DeSantis’ time running for the White House, Trump had often verbally attacked him.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social Trump argued that he was very happy to receive the “enthusiastic support” of DeSantis. The meeting between the two men is said to have been arranged by Trump’s longtime ally Steve Witkoff.

Trump pointed out that the conversation was predominantly focused on how they could work closely together in order to “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.” He continued by noting that they also discussed Florida’s future which he described as “Fantastic.” Trump added that he appreciated the support of DeSantis as he was working to win back the White House against President Biden who he dubbed the worst U.S. president in history.

Trump is most likely going to have no issues winning Florida even without DeSantis’s support. Still, DeSantis does have a strong base of supporters and donors who could end up being helpful in Trump’s road toward winning back the White House.

DeSantis, who dropped out of the 2024 presidential race, is believed to be considering a 2028 presidential race.

This is the first time that the two men have met in person since the primary campaign when they frequently attacked one another. DeSantis had withdrawn from the presidential race after the Iowa caucuses. Following his withdrawal, DeSantis has sought to patch up his relationship with Trump, as that could end up helping him in a future race.
