(PartiallyPolitics.com) – Following Saturday’s assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump, billionaire Elon Musk announced his endorsement of the GOP candidate while also noting that he intended to donate around $45 million each month to a super PAC supporting Trump, according to a recent report.
America PAC, which was created last month in support of the former President includes some of Musk’s friends, including the co-founders of Palantir Technologies Joe Lonsdale, Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss as well as former U.S. ambassador Kelly Craft and her husband Alliance Resource Partners chief executive of coal production Joe.
According to reports the group has so far spent at least $6.6 million in support of Trump, who officially became the Republican nominee on Monday during the Republican National Convention. The PAC has focused its attention on registering voters and pushing for swing state residents to vote early. They have also been pushing for Republicans to request mail-in ballots in an attempt to counter the Democrat’s “get out to vote” campaigns ahead of the November election.
Musk, whose net worth is estimated at $250 billion making him the richest person in the world, intends to make a $45 million donation to the super PAC each month up to the presidential election.
In the 2024 election cycle, the largest known donation was by the great-grandson of banker Thomas Mellon who donated $50 million in support of the Trump super PAC.
On Monday a filing showed that America PAC had received over the last three months $8.75 million in contributions. Musk has indicated that he intends to start his donation this month.
