(PartiallyPolitics.com) – Elon Musk over this past weekend appeared to support the idea that people who did not have any children should have their voting rights revoked. While responding to a Twitter thread that stated that the spread of Islam in France was a result of the “white female vote,” Musk stated that “the childless have little stake in the future.”
One user had written that Democracy was likely “unworkable long term” if the rights are not limited to parents. Musk replied to this post by simply writing “Yup.”
The tech billionaire has fathered 10 children, nine of whom are still living. Previously he has claimed to be “doing [his] part” in the fight against underpopulation. In April he had also warned that the low birth rates were going to cause a “big reckoning” in response to the U.S. Social Security funds being depleted earlier than what was previously expected. He reasserted that the “population collapse” was likely going to cause major problems to civilization, a claim that he had also made in July 2022 when he had called it the “biggest danger civilization faces by far.”
Last year Musk alleged that low birth rates were much more dangerous for civilization than global warming was. He has also previously claimed that while many people believe that the planet is overpopulated, the reality is that the current birth rate trends are going to cause civilizations to collapse.
The U.S. birth rates have remained stable in 2022, however, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention the rates have not returned to their pre-pandemic levels. U.S. birth rates have been in decline for the past decade, dropping 4 percent from 2019 to 2020.
