(PartiallyPolitics.com) – The White House during the latest press briefing had to deal with several tough questions relating to President Biden’s ability to handle critical situations after 8 p.m. These questions came after the recent remarks by the President that he avoided any private meetings or engagements after 8 p.m. as he needed to make sure he was better rested.
Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy questioned White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre about the President’s mental sharpness and decision-making capabilities during late hours. He specifically questioned who the Pentagon would contact in those hours if a nuclear missile was seen heading towards the country, to notify the president.
Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy noted that during his tenure, First Lady Jill Biden often attended meetings in the Oval Office. Doocy continued by questioning if she was involved in the decision-making process. However, Jean-Pierre insisted that President Biden made decisions on his own.
Doocy also pressed on Biden’s commitment to serving a full second term if re-elected, and Jean-Pierre confirmed the President intends to do so. Doocy also questioned Jean-Pierre on the recent concerns about the mental acuity of President Biden, mentioning the comments that Biden has made about his own brain. Jean-Pierre clarified that the President was joking and that his comments were meant to be humorous.
Following the first presidential debate, there has been an increase in concerns about Biden’s age and mental acuity, as his poor performance resulted in many Democrats calling for him to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race. Despite these calls, Biden has maintained that he is able to run for office again and even joked he looks younger than his age.
