(PartiallyPolitics.com) – New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) in a recent interview on MSNBC’s “Inside with Jen Psaki” which is aired on Sunday praised the moderators of the first Republican primary debate. He further claimed that while the GOP was focusing on saving the entire country, former President Donald Trump was only concerned with saving himself.
Sununu told Psaki that in regards to the debate the Republicans were not looking to rehash “yesterday’s news” but rather they were focusing on where they would like to be in 2024. He added that they want to focus on everything that they can bring forward in terms of the nation’s economy, energy independence, securing the Southern border and addressing other key issues.
As he pointed out, the Republican candidates took the opportunity the primary debate provided to talk about these key issues rather than falling into the trap of talking about the former President.
Sununu has often criticized Trump and claimed that he had been excited for Wednesday’s primary debate. As he said he predicted that one of the candidates on the debate stage was going to be the one to win the Presidential election. As he pointed out, support for Trump was going to ensure that the 2024 presidential election would be won by the Democrats.
When he was asked about specific remarks made by Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy about climate change being a “hoax,” Sununu claimed that he had taken some challenging positions and that he was not certain as to the extent that this would be appealing to the Republican base.
