(PartiallyPolitics.com) – On Monday, the Fulton County grand jury decided to indict former President Donald Trump and 18 co-defendants following a years-long investigation into their alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results.

Following the announcement of the 19 indictments against 19 defendants including Trump, Mark Meadows the former White House chief of Staff, Rudy Giuliani former Trump attorney, and a number of other Trump allies, many Republican lawmakers posted their reaction to the indictment.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy in a post on X argued that President Biden had been weaponizing the federal government in an attempt to interfere with the 2024 presidential election results. He added that this example was now being followed by the Fulton County district attorney who was using an indictment against Trump to promote her political career.

Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y. in her own statement pointed out that a “rogue Far left radical District Attorney” was once again allowed to weaponize her office against Trump. She added that the political bias shown had been enough for a judge to disqualify her from being allowed to be a part of the case. Finally, she stated that Trump would be successful in both winning against these cases and winning back the White House in 2024.

Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., who released a statement on Fox News Digital stated that she was uncertain of how seriously this indictment should be taken considering it was leaked while the grand jury was still in deliberation. She then pointed out that the district attorney was using the indictment to push forward her fundraising efforts.
