(PartiallyPolitics.com) – On Tuesday, House Freedom Caucus members appeared eager to have Speaker Kevin McCarthy move forward with his recent statement that his conference might be considering starting an impeachment process against President Biden.
Rep. Bob Good, R-Va., following the Freedom Caucus press conference on Tuesday stated that McCarthy’s decision to refer to an impeachment carried a lot of weight. He added that his even referring to this possibility caused a “paradigm shift.”
McCarthy during an appearance on Fox News’ “Hannity” on Monday night spoke about the hearings and investigations into the Biden family and their alleged misconduct when it came to dealings with foreign businesses. He proceeded to state that the evidence was piling up and that the situation was reaching the “level of impeachment inquiry” which would allow Congress the power to receive the rest of the evidence and information that is necessary.
This is the first time that McCarthy has directly made a comment about President Biden possibly getting impeached, which is something that many hardliners in his conference have been pushing for ever since the Republicans won the House majority in the 2022 midterm elections.
However, the Republicans do not only have their eyes set on Biden, as they are also looking into the possibility of launching impeachment proceedings against many of the top members of Biden’s cabinet including Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Attorney General Merrick Garland.
Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., had previously referred to Mayorkas as a “low-hanging fruit” that they could consider. He added that there was definitely corruption when it came to the Biden “crime syndicate” and that impeachment might turn out to be “a necessary step.”
