(PartiallyPolitics.com) – Following former President Donald Trump’s announcement of Sen. JD Vance as his vice presidential pick, there have been Make America Great Again (MAGA) members and other extremists who have been launching racist attacks against Vance’s wife who is of Indian heritage. Usha is the daughter of Indian immigrants and was raised in San Diego. She and Vance got married in 2014 after meeting at Yale Law School. As part of their wedding celebrations, they were also blessed by a Hindu pundit.
Many conservatives and far-right figures have taken to social media to slam Usha Vance arguing that her heritage could result in the GOP adopting a softer stance when it comes to immigration.
Far-right activist Jaden McNeil questioned Vance’s stance on immigration while sharing a photo of the Senator with his newborn. White supremacist Nick Fuentes similarly questioned Vance’s commitment to “white identity” due to his marriage. Vincent James Foxx, who had taken part in the January 6 Capitol riot, claimed that Vance would be pro-immigration and was invoking Hindu prayers at the Republican National Convention (RNC).
Following Trump’s announcement, Usha Vance, who graduated from Yale in 2013, left her position at the law firm Munger, Tolles, and Olson.
Despite the attack, many other MAGA figures have praised Usha Vance for her credentials and her academic and professional background. JD Vance has also previously acknowledged how important his wife’s role was in his political ascent and his life claiming that she knew how to handle his temper and attitude.
