(PartiallyPolitics.com) – During an interview on the radio network Native Voice One, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) stated that she would be interested in becoming the U.S. secretary of the interior during a possible second Trump administration if former President Donald Trump wins his reelection campaign in November.
Boebert spoke to the network during the third day of the Republican National Convention during which Trump was officially handed the party’s nomination. The network was holding a live show within the Milwaukee convention when Boebert walked by. The hosts then started by asking her who she believed would be a possible option for the interior secretary position in the Trump administration.
In response, she laughed and said that she believes the next secretary of interior should be “Lauren Boebert.” She added that this would be a position she would like to have as it is one of the most important agencies in the federal administration. She noted that she really cares for public lands and has spent a lot of time on “our tribal lands” with the Southern Utes and Mountain Utes.
The Department of Interior is tasked with the conservation and management of natural resources and the federal lands in the country. When the hosts proceeded with a question on whether Boebert believes that the federal government should spread the Bureau of Land Management offices across the United States she responded by pointing out that in 2020 during the Trump administration, the BLM headquarters had been moved to Grand Junction by then Secretary of Interior David Bernhardt, and that they returned to Washington, D.C. under the Biden administration.
