(PartiallyPolitics.com) – On Tuesday Special Counsel Jack Smith announced the latest indictment against former President Donald Trump which was celebrated by many left-wing Twitter users.
In connection to Smith’s investigation into Trump’s role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack and his efforts to overturn the presidential election in 2020, Trump is now facing four federal charges. The charges against him include conspiracy to defraud the United States; obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding; conspiracy against rights; and conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding.
Smith has claimed that following the presidential election on November 3, 2020, Trump spent the next two months spreading lies about the outcome of the election being fraudulent and claiming that he was the winner of the presidential election. He added that these claims were all incorrect which is something that Trump was aware of. Still, that did not stop him from perpetuating these false claims and trying to make them appear to be true. He further pointed out that Trump’s false attempts had led to an “atmosphere of mistrust” surrounding the presidential election.
Earlier that day Trump had predicted that he would be getting indicted. Many Twitter users following the indictment announcement celebrated the news.
Former MSNBC analyst Malcolm Nance shared a photo of himself having a celebratory drink following the indictment, while Sarah O’Connell, a Youtuber had also tweeted out in celebration of the indictment.
Journalist Sophia A. Nelson also said that this was a good day for America as it showed that the country’s institutions continue to work.
Other users such as political strategist Rachel Bitecofer and Elgin Charles, a celebrity hairstylist called Jack Smith a hero over the indictment.
