(PartiallyPolitics.com) – On Saturday a group of Muslim community leaders from many different swing states vowed during a recent conference in Detroit that U.S. President Joe Biden’s stance on the Israel-Hamas war could lead to him losing the support of the Arab American community in the 2024 presidential election.
During the conference the leaders gathered behind a lectern which read “Abandon Biden, ceasefire now,” they warned that the Arab American community could affect the outcome of the presidential election. The conference was held in Dearborn, Michigan, which is the city that has the largest concentration of Arab Americans in the country.
On Saturday, the Gaza Health Ministry, which is under the control of Gaza, put out an updated death toll for the Israel-Hamas war which started after the Oct. 7 attack. Since the start of the war 15,200 Palestinians have lost their lives, while during the Oct. 7 attack, 1,200 Israelis were killed.
So far, President Biden has been unwilling to call for a ceasefire in the conflict. However, this decision has led to him receiving a lot of criticism from the American Muslim community.
Jaylani Hussein from Minneapolis who helped with the conference organization argued that American tax dollars were being used to kill “families and children.” Hussein called the current events the “tragedy upon tragedy.”
In a statement to The Associated Press, Hussein argued that the American Muslim community was angered by the current events and that most of them were even more angered by the fact that they had voted for President Biden.
