(PartiallyPolitics.com) – Former President Obama is increasing his efforts to get more young Americans to vote through a new TikTok video in which he spoke about many of the key issues that were on the ballot in the 2024 presidential election. He proceeded to remind them of how much progress had been made in the country since the previous election.
The video which was released on Monday included many references to meme culture and funny moments, while at the same time outlining the five most important issues on the ballot, including gun safety, education, climate change, immigration, and abortion rights.
In the video, Obama started off by noting that many young Americans cared more about these issues, “that this kid loves corn,” a reference to a viral video about a corn-loving kid. He then urged Gen Z voters to prove how much they care by registering to vote.
Obama during the video also pointed out many of the arguments that people use to justify not voting, including comments about it not making a significant difference. He then acknowledged that while voting won’t change many things in popular culture it was going to ensure that the voices of young people on many key issues would be heard. As he pointed out in the previous presidential election there was a record number of young people who had voted and had changed the direction of the country.
Following their departure from the White House both Barack Obama and the former first lady Michelle Obama had been leading efforts to get voters to register to vote in the presidential elections.
