(PartiallyPolitics.com) – The plane that was meant to carry Secretary of State Antony Blinken and his delegation to a NATO meeting in Brussels ended up experiencing a mechanical issue causing it to stay grounded in Paris.

A State Department spokesperson noted that due to this issue, the delegation ended up driving from Paris to Brussels in order to be in attendance at the NATO Foreign Ministers meeting.

The U.S. Air Force jet used for the trip is a modified older model of Boeing 737. The State Department did not include specific information regarding the model of the place.

This week Blinken had been in France in order to attend a number of meetings with foreign leaders, including UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay and French President Emmanuel Macron. He had also ended up going on a tour of the Nexter headquarters in Versailles with Sébastien Lecornu, the French Defense Minister.

In January Blinken had traveled to Davos, Switzerland where he attended the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting. At the time his plane had been grounded for a mechanical issue. The place at the time was also said to be a Boeing 737 which was meant to carry him back to Washington.

In order for the Cabinet members to be able to return to the United States, the U.S. Air Force had to get a different aircraft from Brussels.
