(PartiallyPolitics.com) – On a recent episode of “The View,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg expressed her frustration with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s indecisiveness regarding former President Trump’s strength as a potential GOP candidate against President Biden in 2024. Goldberg criticized McCarthy for wavering on his stance and urged him to show more assertiveness.

Goldberg played a clip of McCarthy questioning whether Trump would be the ideal Republican nominee when asked if it would benefit the party. She referenced McCarthy’s subsequent comments to Breitbart News where he stated that Trump is currently stronger than he was in 2016 and is Biden’s most formidable political opponent. Goldberg questioned why McCarthy couldn’t take a definitive stance and called for him to demonstrate stronger leadership.

Co-host Sunny Hostin chimed in, suggesting that McCarthy’s position as Speaker limited his ability to be assertive due to concessions he made to secure the role. Hostin humorously remarked that McCarthy had metaphorically “given away” his courage and abandoned it under the table.

McCarthy, who became Speaker after multiple rounds of voting earlier in the year, expressed confidence in Trump’s ability to defeat Biden but admitted uncertainty about whether he was the strongest candidate to win the election.

Another co-host, Sara Haines, argued that extreme candidates often succeed in primaries because they pressure other candidates to align with their views, threatening them with potential primary losses. She highlighted the cycle of nominating extreme candidates due to this pressure.

Both Biden and Trump are currently leading in their respective primary fields for the 2024 presidential election, potentially setting up a rematch of their 2020 race.
