(PartiallyPolitics.com) – On Saturday, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) alleged that the Biden administration has been trying to downplay the severity of the recent leak of classified intelligence and military documents.

Rubio slammed Biden for his recent comments that the leaked documents contained nothing “of great consequence.”  As he told Fox News’s Brian Kilmeade during an interview he did not think Biden was in a position to communicate effectively with the world. He added that the leak means that there is a need for a “comprehensive evaluation” of how classified documents are being “compartmented” as well as how they are secured and who has access to them.

He added that in this particular case, the documents were “posted online by a 21-year-old guy” and that this does not sound like a situation where “he was a spy for any country,” instead he was just someone showing off to his friends, and yet the damage of having the documents leaked is done.

On Thursday, Jack Teixeira, a member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard, was arrested and charged the following day with violating the Espionage Act. It is believed that Teixeira had posted the classified documents on Discord, an online messaging app that is predominantly used by young people and gamers to communicate. Air Force Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder, the Pentagon’s press secretary, has stated regarding this case that it was a “deliberate, criminal act.”

The leaked documents contained a lot of important information relating to the war in Ukraine, including the country’s defensive capabilities, munition, and training information, as well as other intel derived from the U.S. ‘s spy operations in several countries including some that are U.S. allies.
