(PartiallyPolitics.com) – On Thursday, Wisconsin Republican Rep. Glenn Grothman defended former President Donald Trump after he allegedly stated during a closed-door GOP meeting that Milwaukee is a “horrible city.”
Grothman, who had been a part of the reported meeting went on NewsNation’s “The Hill” to say that Trump had not made any comment that he would consider to be an insult to the city. However, Trump had said that they “had to do better” in the city and that there were a lot of things and actions they needed to take in United States big cities.
He added that having been born and raised in Milwaukee he does not consider that any of the comments made by the former President are offensive, but that there are some mainstream media personalities who were constantly looking for any possible reason to bring down Donald Trump. He continued by saying that none of Trump’s statements are things that he would consider to be criticisms of Milwaukee and that the only criticism was that they needed to get the city to vote for more Republicans in the future.
Grothman pointed out that Trump had been speaking for at least an hour, which is a long time for someone to be speaking without having to deal with a “devious reporter” who would choose to mischaracterize the things he said. As he pointed out this is exactly what was happening in this case.
On Thursday, Trump visited Capitol Hill for the first time since the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol attack where he met with House and Senate Republicans.
