(PartiallyPolitics.com) – On Tuesday Republican lawmakers revealed that the federal indictment against former President Donald Trump was another attempt made by the Democrats to interfere with the 2024 elections while also trying to draw attention away from the criminal activity surrounding President Joe Biden.

On Tuesday, Trump was indicted by Special Counsel Jack Smith in connection to his role in the Capitol attack and his attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results. This is the third indictment that Trump has faced this year.

The Washington Grand jury delivered a four-count indictment against Trump, who has maintained that he committed no wrongdoing.

Trump’s position as the leading candidate in the GOP primary race has prompted many lawmakers to state that this was an attempt by the Democrats to interfere with the 2024 presidential election.

Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY), in a tweet, stated that the Democrats had tried to interfere with every single presidential election since 2016. She argued that the Russian collusion hoax, the impeachment charges, the efforts to suppress the news about Hunter Biden’s laptop, and even the charges by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg all constituted election interference attempts.

Bragg brought forward the first indictment against Trump in connection to a hush money payment made to adult film star Stormy Daniels. Trump pleaded not guilty to all charges of falsifying documents in this case. In June, Trump was also indicted by Smith in connection to the classified documents found in his Mar-a-Lago estate following his exit from the White House. That case originally started with 37 counts but has now grown to 42 counts. Trump has pleaded not guilty to all of them.
