(PartiallyPolitics.com) – Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an independent presidential candidate apologized to former President Donald Trump after a video was leaked of their phone call on Monday.

Prior to Trump’s announcement of Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) as his running mate, Trump had spoken with Kennedy. During the leaked phone call Trump could be heard stating that he agreed with some of Kennedy’s opinions relating to vaccines. He could also be heard stating that he would love it if Kennedy did “something” and added that it would be good for the independent candidate. In the video, Trump can also be heard stating that he would win.

On Tuesday after the video was posted online, Kennedy issued an apology for the leak. He noted that when Trump had called him on the phone he had been taping with an in-house videographer. He added that he should have told the videographer to stop recording, but he had not and was now mortified to see this clip shared. Kennedy proceeded to apologize to Trump for it.

In the video, Trump could also be heard stating that President Biden had called him after the assassination attempt and had been “very nice.”

On Saturday during a rally in Pennsylvania, former President Donald Trump was shot at by a 20-year-old gunman. He had ended up being grazed by the ER, while an attendee was killed and two others were injured during the shooting.

If an independent candidate provides their endorsement for Biden or Trump then it could boost their performance in the presidential race. According to The Hill/ Decision Desk HQ, Kennedy is currently polling at around 8 percent.
