(PartiallyPolitics.com) – After Thursday’s debate performance, more Americans think Biden is cognitively unfit to be president.
Nearly three-quarters (72 percent) of Americans believe President Joe Biden is cognitively unfit to be president and shouldn’t be running for reelection.
According to a CBS News/YouGov poll released on Sunday, 72 percent of participants agreed that Biden does have the “mental and cognitive health to serve as president.”
Although the figure is alarming, it’s only a 7-point increase from three weeks earlier when 65 percent of participants in a similar poll shared their belief Biden isn’t cognitively fit to be president.
However, it is significant, given the poll was conducted shortly after Biden’s debate performance, and now highlights how more Americans agree with former President Donald Trump’s — and conservative media — views that Biden doesn’t have the cognitive function to be in the Oval Office.
The 7-point increase is also largely attributed to Democratic Americans who’ve abandoned Biden as their leading nominee. According to the poll, 46 percent of Democrats believe Biden shouldn’t seek reelection anymore — a 10-point increase in less than a month.
The poll also revealed what Americans believe are the top reasons Biden shouldn’t run for reelection.
Among the reasons, age was number one, with 86 percent of participants indicating that is the reason he “shouldn’t be running for president.”
Seventy-one percent suggest it’s the decisions he’d make in a second term in office, while 66 percent point to his record as president. ]
However, despite the rapidly decreasing confidence in Biden’s ability, 55 percent of Democrat registered voters believe Biden should press on, while only 45 percent believe he should step aside.
