(PartiallyPolitics.com) – On Saturday former Vice President Mike Pence announced that he would be dropping out of the 2024 presidential race.
In a speech at the Republican Jewish Coalition Conference Pence stated that it had become clear that this was not his time which was why he was suspending his 2024 presidential campaign. He added that while this might not be his timeline it is still the time for the American people.
The former Indiana governor stated that while he was dropping out of the Presidential race he was never going to stop participating in the fight to have “principled Republican leaders” in every office in the land. Pence pointed out that he had no regrets about his campaign and that from the start they had known that this was going to be a tough race. He added that the only thing that could have been worse than any of the shortcomings in his campaign was if he had never attempted to join the race at all.
While Pence might be leaving the GOP primary race, there are still many others running against former President Donald Trump who is Pence’s ex-running mate. Pence decided to drop out after failing to generate the necessary enthusiasm required to pull ahead of the other GOP candidates and get closer to Trump who is the frontrunner of the race.
Pence had originally launched his presidential campaign bid in early June where he had made a pitch for the need for “different leadership” and pointed to his long experience as the former governor of Indiana and as a congressman. He has also praised the work that he had been a part of during his time in the Trump-Pence administration while often criticizing Trump.
