( – On Tuesday, the New York Supreme Court revealed Rudy Giuliani had been disbarred.

Guiliani, New York City’s former mayor, has reportedly been disbarred because of his repeated false claims to federal courts about the 2020 presidential election.

The court’s decision is a remarkable comedown for Giuliani, the once-beloved mayor, who earned the moniker “America’s mayor,” for his leadership following the 9/11 attacks’ aftermath.

The court’s unsigned, unanimous opinion referenced Giuliani’s perjurious statements about the 2020 Presidential elections, emphasizing that Guiliani had misused his preeminent position as former President Donald Trump’s attorney and attorney for Trump’s campaign.

New York suspended Giuliani’s law license in the state in 2021 for identical reasons. The New York Supreme Court’s decision to disbar Giuliani goes into effect immediately.

Ted Goodman, a spokesperson for Giuliani, revealed Giuliani’s intent to appeal the decision, describing it as “objectively flawed.”

Goodman also called on the legal community to oppose the “politically and ideologically corrupted decision.”

Giuliani also released a statement on X, revealing that he wasn’t “surprised” he was disbarred, calling the Bar Association a “politically and ideologically integral part” of the Democratic Party’s “corrupted court system.”

However, in its opinion, the five-judge appellate panel wrote that the “seriousness” of the former mayor’s “misconduct” could not be “overstated.” They pointed to his repeated and intentional “false statements,” which included some perjurious statements to lawmakers and federal court about the 2020 Presidential election that undermined the country’s electoral process.

Guiliani is also facing disbarment proceedings in Washington, D.C., where his legal license had been suspended pending D.C.’s Court of Appeals final decision.
