(PartiallyPolitics.com) – Former President Donald Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social to knock Fox News and the first GOP primary presidential debate, which he did not attend last Wednesday night. In his post, Trump claimed that Fox News was having “a hard time” with bringing in high ratings. He then claimed that this presidential debate had the lowest ratings ever and it further showcased that many of the presidential candidates that participated were “second tier.” He proceeded to also call the presidential candidates “pretenders to the throne.”

During the GOP primary debate, eight of the nine top GOP presidential candidates went against each other. However, in part because of Trump’s absence, the network’s ratings during the debate were much lower than what they usually are during the GOP debates. Around 13 million had tuned in for the presidential debate, while in 2015 when Trump was first starting out his political career, there had been 20 million people who had watched the show.

Despite the low ratings, the debate has been viewed as a success, as millions of Americans tuned into Fox News to catch the presidential debate which is the best-performing non-sports program so far this year.

Trump’s commentary did not end there as he claimed that many of the answers the candidates gave were “sooo bad”  and were made even worse by the delivery. He added that the numbers right now are less than half of the ones he had in 2016 and that with these numbers it would not be possible for them to fight against President Biden.

Rather than attend the presidential debate, Trump opted to have an interview with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson which was aired on his show on Wednesday on the social media platform X, previously called Twitter. Trump has argued that because of his large lead in the primary race, he has no reason to attend the early primary debates.
