Trump’s Only Fair Judge Removed From Case?

(PartiallyPolitics.com) – Legal expert Ben Meiselas has predicted that Judge Aileen Cannon, who recently dismissed Donald Trump’s classified documents case, is going to be removed from the proceedings. Cannon is a Trump-nominated judge who has now ruled that the Department of Justice’s appointment of Special Counsel Jack Smith, in this case, had been unconstitutional.

Meiselas, on his Midas Touch Podcast, argued that Cannon’s decision was not aligned with the conclusions previously made by the court and that this ruling was just aiming to benefit Trump. Smith’s office plans to appeal Cannon’s ruling, noting that the attorney general has statutory authority to appoint a special counsel without Senate approval.

Cannon’s decision is only the latest ruling from her to have delayed the trial proceedings or to have favored Trump. Meiselas claimed that he believes the ruling is going to be successful and he has mentioned that special counsels have been routinely used in both Republican and Democratic administrations. He added that Cannon’s ruling was not consistent with the legal precedent established.

Still, Cannon justified her decision arguing that the appointment of Smith had been in violation of the constitutional principles that are connected to the Congress’s role in appointments. Still, Attorney General Garland and former Attorney General Bill Barr both argued that there had been such appointments previously without any Senate approval.

Trump’s legal team praised Cannon’s ruling, with attorney Christopher Kise claiming that she had “restored the rule of law.” However many legal experts have slammed Cannon’s decision.

Trump is facing over 40 counts in connection to the mishandling of classified documents in this case and has pleaded not guilty to all counts.
