(PartiallyPolitics.com) – Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson criticized Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for betraying Texas with his refusal to use the Texas National Guard in order to secure the U.S.-Mexico border.

On Sunday during an event in Utica, Michigan, Carlson questioned how many Texans agreed with allowing 7 million people to enter the country illegally. He proceeded to argue that regardless of what someone’s race or origin was they would not be in favor of that decision and yet the Texas governor has not taken any meaningful action to stop migrants from entering the country.

Last year Abbot claimed that there was an “invasion” that allowed him to invoke state powers and use aggressive measures in the U.S. border. His strategy for securing the Texas border has been known as Operation Lone Star.

As part of the operation, Abbott has installed in the Rio-Grande floating buoys that block around 1,000 feet of the river. These barriers were placed in the areas that were most frequently used by the migrants to cross into the U.S. However, many humanitarian activists and the federal government have opposed the installation. Mexican authorities have also expressed concerns about the dangers related to the installations.

The Department of Justice has also filed a lawsuit calling for the removal of the barriers, and a federal judge ruled that Texas needed to remove the barriers.
Texas has also installed razor wire fencing in other sections of the border and has given troopers the power to arrest migrants who enter the state on trespassing charges.

On Sunday Abbott took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to write that the Texas National Guard was continuing to turn back those who were attempting to illegally cross the U.S. border.
