(PartiallyPolitics.com) – In an interview on Sunday, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), the former House Speaker, slammed both at the time, current House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.).

During her appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Jake Tapper, Pelosi specifically argued that she did not understand why the media was giving Gaetz attention as she thought he did not have any support within the House. She added that the only way he got it was through TV and raising money online.

Gaetz who had appeared earlier on the show had claimed that this week he would be starting the process of ousting McCarthy from the Speakership through filing a motion to vacate. This procedural tool would also require the Democrats to vote on McCarthy, giving the party the possibility of saving the Republican speaker.

While Pelosi did not disclose how she voted in this case, she did say that House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) would lead the party’s vote. The Democrats choose not to save McCarthy which forced him to be ousted.

Pelosi also praised her party’s leader for how he had handled the anticipated government shutdown last week and his efforts in reaching a continuing resolution (CR) which allowed them to avoid the shutdown. As she pointed out this was a success for the Democrats and a failure for MAGA Republicans.

Finally, she slammed the Republicans over their hypocrisy as most of them were in support of tax cuts for the wealthy but voted against funding the government.
