(PartiallyPolitics.com) – On Sunday, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) stated that the newly released report detailing the Afghanistan withdrawal produced by the Biden administration was “political whitewash” where they try to blame the chaotic withdrawal on others.

During an interview on “Fox News Sunday” with Shannon Bream, Biden argued that the administration was trying to find someone else to shift the blame. He also questioned the extent to which the report’s claim that the U.S. had accomplished its mission in Afghanistan was accurate, nothing in particular that if the Biden administration was claiming that there were no terrorists left in the country they were “lying.”  He further warned that it was a “matter of time” before “another 9/11” occurred if the U.S. did not alter its policies.

Last week, the administration released a 12-page report in which they detailed how the decisions for the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021 were made. In the report, they put a lot of the blame for the withdrawal’s chaotic nature on former President Trump and his administration for having limited the options that the Biden administration had available.

National Security spokesperson John Kirby defended the report reiterating that Biden’s options for the withdrawal were very limited. As he noted, Biden “didn’t negotiate with the Taliban,” and “didn’t invite the Taliban to Camp David” or “release 5,000 prisoners.” More important, Biden had not been the one to reduce the U.S. forces in “Afghanistan to 2,500,” these were all circumstances that Biden had to deal with that had been left that way by the previous administration.
