(PartiallyPolitics.com) – Sen. Tim Scott, who is running in the 2024 GOP presidential primary, stated on Saturday that the House needed to come together and vote on a new speaker. He added that should they be unable to do so, it could cause the Republican party to fail in the upcoming presidential election as there could be doubts about the party’s ability to govern.

In an interview with Newsmax’s “America Right Now” Scott argued that the “road to socialism” was open when there was division within the GOP.  As he said, the chaos in the House right now is causing dismay.

On Friday afternoon Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, withdrew his Speakership bid after being unable to secure enough votes to become the House Speaker on the third ballot.

Scott pointed out that if the 2024 presidential election was about President Biden, then the Republican party would be able to win. However, if the election becomes about how the GOP is unable to govern in the House then they are going to lose the support of everyone who has hated the path the United States has followed under Biden for the last two years.

The presidential candidate proceeded to criticize Biden stating that his actions had devastated families across the country and resulted in 13 American soldiers falling during the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan. He added that the weakness of the President has led to devastating events across the world and that it was now the Republican’s party’s job to do their job, choose a Speaker, and show that they are the “only alternative.”
