(PartiallyPolitics.com) – Nathan Wade, the former special prosecutor for Georgia, recently opened up in his first interview since his resignation from the high-profile election interference case against former President Trump. Speaking with ABC News’ Linsey Davis on “Good Morning America,” Wade discussed the workplace romance he had with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, characterizing such relationships as “as American as apple pie.”

During the interview, Wade expressed regret that the relationship overshadowed the case, stating, “I regret that that private matter became the focal point of this very important prosecution. This is a very important case.” The relationship and Willis’ defiant response to criticisms of impropriety became central to the controversy, causing concern even among progressives.

Wade addressed the timing of their public acknowledgment of the relationship, emphasizing his intent to maintain the integrity of the prosecution. “My conversation here with you today is just that. It’s Nathan’s conversation. I do not speak for the district attorney’s office… With that, I want to continue to protect the integrity of this prosecution. I don’t want to say or do anything that would jeopardize this case,” he explained.

Despite the controversy, Wade believes that the revelation of their past relationship did not damage the legal proceedings. His departure from the case followed a decision by Fulton County Superior Judge Scott McAfee, who ruled that either Willis or Wade needed to step back from the prosecution due to the perceived impropriety.

Meanwhile, Willis has moved forward with the case against Trump, asserting that her reputation remains intact. Speaking to CNN, Willis remarked, “I don’t feel like my reputation needs to be reclaimed. I guess my greatest crime is I had a relationship with a man. That’s not something I find embarrassing in any way. And I know that I have not done anything that’s illegal.” This statement underscores her determination to continue her legal efforts without dwelling on the personal aspects that have come under scrutiny.
