(PartiallyPolitics.com) – Former President Donald Trump has renewed his vow to construct an “iron dome” over the United States.

Trump, who is currently leading the 2024 GOP presidential primary race, stated in front of a crowd in New Hampshire this past weekend that if he is elected to office he would construct a missile defense system resembling the one that is in use in Israel. Israel’s defense system is known as Iron Dome and it is known for its ability to stop rockets that are targeting the nation.

On Sunday during his rally, Trump argued that they would build an iron dome over the entire country that would be entirely built in the USA. He added that it was about time for the country to have one and even argued that such an iron dome would help “prevent World War III.”

NBC News reported that Trump had argued that World War III had never been so close and that people just needed to look at the news.

Trump proceeded to explain on Monday how the Iron Dome worked. As he explained when they say there is a “missile launched” a bell goes and they immediately launch a missile. He added that this is not something the United States has.

The former President had first talked about his plan to have an iron dome built in the United States during a campaign stop in Orlando, Florida in November. At the time he had argued that this was going to help protect Americans from foreign threats and that they could build that missile defense shield system.
